    Topic: This presentation will focus on the reduction of stress in the workplace. Emphasis will be given to empirical information on common workplace stressors as well as the impact of this stress on physical and mental health. Resources with information on best practices for combating this stress will be provided. Attendees will explore the many benefits of certain stress-reduction techniques, such as mindfulness and creating white space and encouraged to engage in these practices throughout the presentation.

    Our Speaker:  Dr. Whitney Whitaker, Assistant Professor of Psychology, Fort Hays State University. Dr. Whitney Whitaker graduated from Kansas State University with her Ph.D. in social/personality psychology in 2016.  She currently is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Fort Hays State University.  Dr. Whitaker has extensive research experience exploring the effectiveness of different mindfulness-based techniques on a variety of psychological outcomes including the reduction of stress and anxiety as well as the promotion of relational health and overall well-being.  Her most recent research projects were published in the Journal of Positive Psychology and Mindfulness.  When she is not teaching and researching, she enjoys doing home renovation projects with her husband, Brett, and cuddling their miniature schnauzer, Bentley.

    Time and Location: Chapter meetings are held monthly on the second Tuesday of the month at the Robbins Center on the FHSU campus in Hays. Luncheon meetings begin with registration at 11:15 a.m. and the business meeting starting at 11:30 a.m.  The program is held after the business meeting and concludes around 1:00 p.m.
