    About the Presentation

    Today’s business environment requires companies to undergo change constantly. Factors including globalization of markets and rapidly evolving technology force businesses to respond in order to survive. Sometimes, change can be minor – as in the case of installing new software—or large—like refocusing a marketing strategy, or transforming in the face of foreign competition. Why is change such a crucial piece of organization wide assessments? Organization wide assessments are the key to implementing strategic change. Leaders must be able to understand what organizational needs exist, as well as establish a baseline to help measure progress when change processes are complete. The tool to support these goals is the comprehensive organizational assessment.  The primary objective of this discussion is to illustrate the importance of organizational assessments on strategic change management, as well as demonstrate methods to achieve productive change management processes. In this one-hour presentation, participants will gain an understanding of assessments by examining definitions and examples, including the organization wide assessment. Secondly, the Action Improvement Method (AIM) process will be discussed. The AIM model is a straight-forward, actionable plan to assist businesses as they navigate the assessment process. Finally, we will finish our discussion by reviewing Lewin’s Change Management Model as related to organizational assessments. This will help participants learn how to implement assessments within their own organizational context.

    Sabrina William is the Director of the Management Development Center (MDC), a division of the Robbins College of Business & Entrepreneurship (RCOBE) at Fort Hays State University. Sabrina has over 15 years of experience in economic development and has worked effectively in leading projects, organizing teams, managing organizational budgets and working within the guidance of boards. Sabrina has three years of experience facilitating training and development workshops. She has a Master of Liberal Studies with a concentration in Organizational Leadership, a B.S. in Business Administration, and a certificate in Human Resource Management, all through FHSU. Sabrina lives in Hays and enjoys traveling, golfing and spending time outdoors.
